Coaching Staff: Asst. Coach Jay Novacek, Offensive Line
Jay Novacek enters his 5th season as the running game coordinator for the Olathe Northwest football staff. In addition to his duties as the head offensive line coach, Novacek also serves as the Ravens Head Baseball Coach. Novacek came to Northwest from Olathe South where he served as special teams coordinator and coached the offensive line. At Olathe South, Coach Novacek was instrumental in establishing a winning tradition and helped lead Olathe South to a Kansas 6A State runner up in 1999. Novacek served as assistant baseball coach and language arts teacher at Olathe South from 1997-2003. A graduate of Emporia State University, Coach Novacek was a 2000 nominee for the Emporia State University Distinguished Alumni Award. He has also completed his masters degree in Educational Administration from Baker University. Before attending ESU, Novacek was part of the Drake University Football team where he played slotback in 1992-93. At St. Thomas Aquinas High School, Novacek was a 4-year letterman in both football and baseball. In 1991, Novacek was named to the All-Eastern Kansas League football team. In 2002, Coach Novacek received the Zachary W. Franklin “People Who Make a Difference” Award for his impact as an educator. Coach Novacek brings energy, enthusiasm, and knowledge of the game to the Raven Football Family. He has established a reputation for being one of the foremost offensive line coaches in the Sunflower League and was selected to coach the offensive line for the 2002 Kansas-Missouri All-Star Game. Jay and his wife Marcia live in Olathe with their sons – Jackson (6) and Cooper (3).
